Whey Protein Concentrate

Whey protein is formed as a by-product during the cheese making process. However, not all of them are created in the same way. Through varying levels of filtration, the ratio of protein, carbohydrates and fats found in whey protein products can be tailored for specific goals.

Whey Protein Concentrate (typically abbreviated as WPC) is known as the first generation of whey protein powders. Modern whey concentrates typically vary from 60 to 80% of protein content. Whey Protein Hydrolysate/ Whey Peptides

Whey Protein Hydrolysate (abbreviated as WPH) represent the latest generation of whey powders and is regarded as the most advanced type of whey available in the market. Let's find out why. 

WPH is known to contain pre digested protein complexes. This means in order to produce a whey hydrolysate, protein molecules must be enzymatically broken down into di and tripeptides or even smaller units (simple amino acids). This process is called 'hydrolysis' and allows for the whey protein to be faster absorbed. For that reason, WPH tends to be more expensive than the aforementioned whey powders, but more effective. 

How much protein should I take?

The amount of protein you should be taking will depend on a number of factors such as size, age and how active you are. As a rule of thumb you should be taking in between 2 grams of protein each day, for each kilogram of body weight. Remember that this is a rule of thumb and will not be the same for all people.
